Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 1, 2025

1Overview

Knowledge Quest (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who use our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We comply with applicable laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and GDPR where applicable.

2Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide our service:

  • Account information — name and email address provided during registration.
  • Child profiles — first name and avatar chosen by a parent or guardian. We do not collect a child's email address or any other personally identifiable information directly from a child.
  • Usage data — game scores, XP earned, quiz results, and session timestamps used to power progress tracking.
  • Device data — browser type, operating system, and IP address collected automatically for security and performance purposes.

3Children Under 13 (COPPA)

Knowledge Quest does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Child profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian account. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will delete that information promptly.

4How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and child profiles.
  • To track and display learning progress within the platform.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g., email verification, password reset).
  • To improve the reliability and performance of our service.
  • To respond to support requests and inquiries.

5Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your data with third-party advertisers. We may share information with trusted service providers who assist in operating our platform (e.g., cloud hosting) under strict confidentiality agreements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6Cookies & Tracking

We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but this may prevent you from logging in or using certain features.

7Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Child profile data is deleted immediately when a parent removes the child profile or deletes their account.

8Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

9Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to restrict or object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

10Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date below and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
